Conference Overview

Welcome to the 16th Annual Joint Conference hosted by the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society.  The theme for this year -- the 2020 annual meeting -- is "Perfect Vision."  These two premier professional societies have sponsored what has become one of the largest state/local educational conferences in the nation.

We are offering an information-packed, one day conference.  In addition to a large exhibit hall, three concurrent educational sessions are held:

  • Clinical education for ophthalmologists
  • Practice management presentations for doctors and administrators (concurrent with the clinical session)
  • Ophthalmic technicians (JCAHPO credit) focused on clinical courses for technical personnel in an ophthalmic office
  • Residents breakout luncheon and roundtable discussion -- (additional registration is not required)
  • The Presidents' Dinner this year will be a tribute to ISEPS' Golden Anniversary -- "50 Years of Service" as a benefit to the new ISEPS Global Ophthalmology Foundation

We are pleased to offer three named guest lectures. They are:

  • ISEPS Kresca Lecture - Susmita Pati, MD MPH, Professor of Pediatrics, Chief, Division of Primary Care Pediatrics, Chief Medical Program Advisor, the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science®; Stony Brook University; Stony Brook, NY

  • COS Gifford Lecture - Carol Karp, MD; Professor of Ophthalmology and Richard K. Forster Chair in Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute; Miami, FL

  • ISPB Lecture - Brian Kim, MD; Professional Eye Associates; Dalton, GA

Plus, we are honored to have several special guest lecturers --

  • George A. Williams, MD, Chair, Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Beaumont Eye Institute at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, MI and Immediate Past-president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
  • David W. Parke, II, MD, Chief Executive Officer of the American Academy of Ophthalmology; San Francisco, CA
