Dr. Karp chairs the Department of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.  She specializes in cataract and refractive disorders, cornea and external diseases, ocular oncology, and she performs LASIK and laser vision correction surgery.  

She earned her medical degree in 1989 at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  She completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor (1993), and she completed a fellowship in cornea and external eye disease in 1994 at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL.
